Consider incorporating an anti-bullying pledge and rules in your school. At the beginning of the school year, have an assembly and review the rules and pledge with each student.
Post the following rules in each classroom. We will:
- Not bully.
- Help Others.
- Include everyone.
- Tell an adult.
Follow in Prince George’s County Public Schools’ footsteps and have each student pledge against school bullying. Every student recited the PGCPS Anti-Bullying Pledge noted below.
I pledge to take a stand against bullying and cyber-bullying.
I will not use technology as a weapon to hurt others; I will think before I click.
I will stop, block and tell if a cyber bully is targeting me.
I will NEVER post pictures or video of someone without their permission.
I value student differences and treat others with respect.
I will not stand by and watch someone get picked on.
I care enough to tell an adult if I see someone being bullied.
I will not become involved in bullying or cyber-bullying incidents or be a bully or cyber-bully.
I will not stand by… I will take a stand against bullying.
I will keep Prince George’s County Public Schools a Bully-Free Zone!
Hats off to the PGCPS for taking an active stand against bullying and encouraging students to speak out against bullying.
