Sight Word Activities
Instantly recognizing sight words assist a child when learning to read. In his book, Problems in Reading, Dolch published a list of 220 service words that he recommended children learn so that they recognize these words upon sight.
Sight Word Activity – Numbers
Dolch included the following 9 out of 10 numbers: one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight & ten. In addition, many sight word lists include the following mathematical terms: first, even, more and most. The following activities help reinforce the numbers 1 through 10 as well as other mathematical skills a child needs to master.

The above sight word activities help a child learn both sight words and some important mathematical skills.
Many kindergarten curriculums explore numbers in the following ways.
- Count whole numbers to 100.
- Model the numbers through 10 in a variety of ways using objects.
- Identify and create sets of objects with more, less and equal.
- Recognize odd and even number of objects.
- Identify the position of an object using the numbers first through fifth.
